When installing roll roofing, we use roofing cement to adhere the roof drip edge to the bottom edge of the roof deck. After creating a straight line parallel to the drip edge, we cut the roll roofing into sections to fit the roof. Once we position the first piece along the chalk line, the other edge lines up with the outer edge of the drip edge. Then we use nails and drive them along the bottom edge and the sides. Next, we mark another chalk line above the top edge of the first roll, put cement in a band along it, position the second row along the chalk line and overlap the roofing cement. This process continues until the roof is completely covered.

Generally, the roof of an average home (3,000 square feet or less) can be replaced in one day. In extreme cases, it can take three to five days. Depending on the weather conditions, complexity and availability of your home, it can take up to three weeks.

First, we would need to remove the old roofing and evaluate the roof sheathing. This is when we will look for any moist areas or other trouble spots that need to be replaced. Considering Canada’s weather, we will install an ice and water barrier around your roof, especially at the bottom edge. Afterward, we will put on the drip edge and install roofing underlayment (synthetic is recommended, but felt paper is also provided).
